This Slow-Cooker Pulled Pork Recipe Will Rock Your Tailgate

Game day is the best because in the end, it doesn’t matter if your team wins or loses: there will always be the party food. Pulled pork is one of your best bets for feeding a team because it can be made in large batches and is great on nachos, potato skins or—our personal favorite—piled onto a toasted slider bun with some slaw.

Check out our pulled pork recipe below to see just how easy making it can be. Best of all, it’s made in a slow cooker, so if you’re headed to a tailgate party, just bring your crock pot to the parking lot!

SLOW-COOKER PULLED PORK

What You’ll Need:
One 4–5 lb pork shoulder or butt
Salt and pepper
Barbecue sauce (optional)

What To Do:
1) Season pork all over with salt and pepper. Place inside a slow cooker and add just enough water to cover the bottom. Cover and cook on low until internal temperature reaches 190 degrees and pork easily pulls apart, about 7 hours. Transfer pork to a bowl and let rest for 20 minutes. Pour liquid left in slow cooker into a bowl and reserve.

2) Once pork has rested, shred into bite-sized pieces with two forks. Return pork to slow cooker vessel, then stir in just enough cooking liquid to moisten. Alternatively, stir in enough BBQ sauce to lightly coat meat.
